True Service

The questions comes along periodically as to what is a submissive or a slave or even a bottom? In my view it comes down to service, what level of service are you providing your top/dominant/master? This can range from none other than play to being selflessly devoted in service to them.
If you are only "serving" as a play thing, there is no service outside of play scenes, then you are a bottom, seems simple, but so many attempt to argue the point.
If you are providing services, but retain your right to decide what and when you will do so, or maintain limits on what types of service you will provide, then you most likely are a submissive.
The last category is the slave, these are the submissives who serve selflessly, with their very being, they truly belong to another, and show it in how they serve them. They do not need to be told to serve, they simply do, if it pleases their master or mistress then it pleases them, as they have given themselves to pleasing them, and do not worry over their place, because they know it is theirs always.

i love the quote. i tend to be a quote whore and certainly a Shakespeare junky so this one is a beautiful surprise to me!
i also appreciate what you offer regarding service...i read a blog by a Dom recently that offered that there is no "true service" and that it is all merely quid quo pro...i didn't comment as it didn't seem relevant and i have learned long ago it is highly unlikely an opposing opinion will change anyone's mind...but it really struck me and has caused me to think my service value. i am compelled to serve outside of my kink and some of the most submissive things i do for my Master have nothing to do with sex.
i have bookmarked your blog as it seems to contain a great deal of information i would like to explore as i continue my quest to discover my own "True Nature".
