Power is an illusion

With all that has happened lately, I have seriously looked at my life and what code I live by. The biggest thing seems to be my knowledge that, no one has any real power over me, they only have the power I give them.
The government only has power because we allow them to, other people can only hurt us as much as we alow them to hurt us, physical pain is passing, it is the emotional pain that lasts, and that can only be self-inflicted.
So, what happens when everyone figures that out? To quote Arthur C Clarke, "Something wonderful.", maybe I will live to see it.
No power save that I give, Power to die, power to live, No fate but that I choose, Everything to gain, nothing to loose.
